Memorial Day

I’m not sure if I ever shared this with you or not. In April 2006, Meghan lost one of her lifelong friends to a roadside bomb in Iraq. Every year, I post this on the ghost club message board to honor Jason. I’d like to share it with you and please feel free to post it elsewhere if you like. I think a lot of people can relate to this.

God Bless all service personnel, both alive and dead.

I Remember…

I remember you as a boy with curly brown hair and laughing eyes. And I remember on the first day of school, how you explained to my little daughter that it would be okay because you would be in the same class.

I remember the warm Texas nights, long after sunset, watching you catch fireflies

I remember watching you learn to ride a bike and the pride on your mother’s face

I remember the snakes and the not quite dead mouse you so bravely carried out of my house

I remember the pollywogs and the crawfish you tried to keep alive long enough to take to school for show and tell

I remember seeing you in the field across the street, your faithful dog happily trailing behind you

I remember Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle Halloween costumes

I remember tiny snowmen built with rare Texas snow

I remember teen angst (lord, you were a handful)

I remember when you took your first solo drive

I remember seeing you in your cap and gown, standing tall and the tears in your mom’s eyes

I remember your last visit home on leave, a proud soldier who still had laughing eyes

Though you are gone, your sacrifice is not forgotten. I will remember….always.

In memory of Jason Brent Daniel, who died in Iraq April 23, 2006.

All over our country there is small out of the way memorials to those who have paid the ultimate price for the freedoms we  Enjoy.  Let us never forget those who paid such a price.

Looking Out My Back Door

Posted in: California, Memorial

Creedence Clearwater Revival

This is what I awoke to see this morning.  A beautiful morning sitting here drinking my coffee and looking out the back door at the below view.  It’s not a bad life, and I’m thankful for what blessings I have.  This morning, I’m still kind of in shock to learn of the passing of Jen Nicole Miller aka sin, sinernic on IRC.  The reason we traveled to Roswell was to see her.

So in your memory sin.  Looking out my back door at a beautiful morning.
