Old Dogs
Serendipity
I saw this posted on a facebook post from a friend of mine. It came at a time when we are struggling with an older dog. Chunky Monkey is growing older and he has his good days and bad days. I don’t think he’s in continuous pain but there is times when you know he seems to be feeling bad. He’s also loosing his eyesight. We can’t leave him anywhere alone, his anxiety just makes it impossible. I’m afraid he will hurt himself if left alone for any length of time. He will search and search, if one of us is missing and not around, to take a walk or go to the store. He just freaks out. Only one of us at a time can go into the stores to shop. We baby sit the old dog and he whines and searches from window to window in the truck as one of us sits in the parking lot with him. There seems to be no way to console him when he’s going through these bouts of separation anxiety. I’ve had pets and dogs all my life and the last couple of years I’ve often said when the old monkey goes I don’t plan on having anymore dogs in my life. This may come back to haunt me as the same friend posted this picture below. Between these two pictures and the trouble the old monkey has been giving us the last couple of weeks. I’ve been thinking about this subject a great deal.
