Foot Prints

Somewhere in my memory bank is a saying from my great uncle.  I’m not sure of the exact wording of this but then my memory isn’t what it use to be.  It had to do with leaving tracks upon the land.  In the long run our lives are pretty short and some leave a lasting legacy of their passing along the paths they walk.  This marker is one of the tracks we leave upon the path we travel.  How long it will last is up to the elements and time.  Small tracks and small markers, leave no lasting mark upon the earth.

Just curious — was this a track that you left or
was it one that you came upon?

It’s one me and the snowbird left, and we walked by it today, and had to rebuild. The wind here is something.

That’s a neat memory to hold.

In my view leaving “a mark” doesn’t necessarily refer to something like a petroglyph or sculpture, but could include expressive acts such as storytelling, paying it forward, or even posting photographs on an internet blog. And it is not always a conscious act – sometimes we affect someone or something, leaving “a mark(er)” without even knowing it. IMHO.

    Well said.
