Humming Birds

Flights of Fancy

3640-copy1.jpgI really have a hard time photographing these little birds in flight. ¬†Auto focusing doesn’t cut it and when I try to manually focus I don’t have time before they move. ¬†Maybe I should set the focus for a fixed distance and hope they fly into that range.

    Pretty spectacular, especially considering your
    perceived limitations. There’s nothing wrong
with them to us ordinary people!

The only time I managed to photograph a hummingbird it was sitting on a branch–and it was through a window. That you’ve managed to actually catch them in reasonable focus in midair is pretty good. Does your camera have a feature that can be set for moving targets?

  3. Databrokers says:

Thanks Pootie an Z No, I don’t have a feature for moving targets per say on the camera. Although, there is some presets for moving sports and such.

Wow, what a series. Amazing detail and color on these flying jewels.

Maybe the moving sports feature would work. I know my camera has that feature as well but I just put the thing on “Auto” and let the camera do the work. When taking pictures “on-the-fly” (excuse the pun), changing settings is just not the thought that comes to mind.
