Birding

I’m too close

7931.jpgI really need a new camera, this bird is moving because we are too close.  The old Sony is a beautiful camera but it’s getting to close to eight or nine years old.  It’s fixed lens and digital zoom just doesn’t reach out there as I need.  I’m looking at a few of the newer fixed super zooms, but my ideal would be one with a long telephoto lens along with really nice macro.  The only thing holding me back, is the cost.  That seems to hold me back more and more being my photography is little more than a hobby.

I got a new camera earlier this year and thought it was wonderful. I got a Panasonic Lumix with only a 12X zoom as I wanted it to be small enough to fit in my jeans pocket–which it does. I’ve heard that the Lumix cameras have Leica lenses. I noticed the difference in my pictures right away. It cost about $100 more than I was planning to spend but I haven’t regretted it at all.

The picture is very good, even though he’s moving away. He’s also giving you a very wary look with that eye that matches the plants in the background.
