Inca Doves

Small Inca Doves

7853.jpg As a youth growing up here in Corpus Christi area, I don’t ever remember seeing these little birds before.  I’ve asked around and they say they are recent immigrants from regions farther south (Mexico)  Is climatic change moving the birds north, I don’t know if it’s scientific fact or just antidotal evidence of such migrations.

I looked up the Inca doves in my Roger Tory Peterson Guide and it says that their habitat is Southwest U.S. to Northwest Costa Rica and has bred in Key West and sometimes Louisiana. The Cornell Lab also says they’re found in your area. Here’s their website

    They’re very pretty.
