Here is some information everyone may find interesting about the problem and how widespread it seems to be.
I heard that you can help your spruce trees by blasting the larvae with water and…make sure that your trees are well watered as they are more susceptible to infestation during drought. Since we only got 1/3 of our usual snow fall this winter, I believe that this year would fall under the drought category.
